Nocturne (2016)
LED-bulbs, programmed multi-channel relay, string

The installation creates and imitates afterimages that bright lights cause the eye to see.  Nine LED-bulbs are hung on eye level in a dark space. The lights flash brightly once,  after which some of the them continue to glow dimly. This happens on a 15 second cycle, and on each cycle different lights stay glowing.

The afterimages created by the flashing lights and the glowing lightbulbs that imitate them in the space are mixed together on the viewers eyes, which in a pitch black space creates a disturbing effect of not being certain what is part of ones subjective visual experience and what is part of the installation.
