The installation creates and imitates afterimages that bright lights cause the eye to see. Nine LED-bulbs are hung on eye level in a dark space, appearing as two dimensional discs of light. The bulbs are programmed to first flash brightly, after which some of the them continue to glow dimly for 15 seconds, after which the loop repeats itself.
In a pitch black space, the dimly glowing lightbulbs appear visually similar as the afterimages that the flashing lights forces ones eyes to see. This creates a disorienting effect of not being certain which discs of light only appear on ones retinas, and which are part of the installation.
